Deia Fashion show estilo Mallorquín!
A decade ago we celebrated the Deià of the twentieth century with the Deià Heydays Festival. This year, we celebrate and recognize the continued importance of the arts to the community of Deià today. We not only celebrate the produced but also recognise the need to support the continued production of cultural work in our village.
Deià19 is not only a summer festival but the inauguration of a foundation to support and encourage young artists in any discipline. In effect we share something we know: that there is a magical, magnetic confluence of forces that is uniquely valuable and inspirational for artists and we can provide the wherewithal for them to also experience and benefit from it.
The new Deià Arts Festival 19 will comprise artists from all disciplines and media: painters, writers, poets, fashion designers, photographers and film makers.
Deià has been an artist’s colony for 60 years and continue to be a hotbed of creativity and imagination.
With this festival we will bring the unknown and the forgotten together to remind you that the town of Deià is a place where artists work all year round!
Hello dear lovers of Deià,
After decades of artistic flourishing in our unique village, Deià's ethos could be at risk of being overtaken by luxury tourism. So we've come together to create a festival that will inject our village's soul with creativity, and honour the extraordinary talent it holds.
Its become clear that if we want to protect this unique community and help nourish a new generation of artists, we need to revere our heritage and our spirit. Deià19 will be a cultural celebration of Deià's past, present and future poets, writers, musician, photographers, filmmakers, artists, ceramicists and craftspeople.
Guests are ready to come in from all over, and three days of events are planned across the village, but to make it happen we need to urgently raise €10,000. So, we are asking everyone who loves Deià to donate whatever they can. If just 500 of us donate just €20 - we can make this happen together.
We know these events can nurture our artistic village. Ten years ago we celebrated Deià heydays 1960-1980 and then we published the book Deya Heydays 1960-2000. Now we want to create an Arts Festival to breath new life into this artistic colony.
This festival from October 11-13th will show Deià isn't just a wonderful summer place, but home to exceptional artists all year round who with enough support and recognition can continue to thrive and give this place magic.
Everything we raise will go to exhibits, logistics and equipment. So please click on the link to chip in whatever you can - 10, 20, 50, 100, or even 500 euros. Let's come together as our community always has and support this special Deià tribe.
